Getting The Job Done!

Over the last 2 months, it’s been an incredible ride for the Meade Mustangs Varsity Boys Basketball Team! The team after the regular season went into Arundel High School to take on their rivals Broadneck for the county championship. It was a crazy game but in the end, it was Meade that was able to out last Broadneck to claim the County Championship and avenge an earlier regular season loss when they played the Bruins at Broadneck. After the Championship, they prepared themselves for the 2023 State Playoffs. When the Mustangs played Arundel on our home court (aka: The Stable), it wasn’t a problem for them. They routed the Wildcats 64-39 advancing to the Regional Finals to take on Reservoir at home because the Mustangs have the “home court advantage” up until the State Semifinals which is also known as the Final Four. In the Regional Finals match up against Reservoir, the Mustangs played a competitive first half. But once the second half comes, the boys play with all the energy and pride that they have left in them to beat Reservoir 60-51 and claim the Regional Finals Title! After that, they faced Wootton High School in the State Quarterfinals at Meade. As a result, they played and executed their style of basketball to outlast Wootton 64-53 and advance to the State Final Four!

Tonight will decide the Mustangs fate in the State Tournament. They now have to go to Montgomery Blair High School to take on Sherwood High School for a chance to go back to the State Championship for the first time since 2016. The team has had such a great season. However their hopes of going to the State Championship all come down to this. This game tonight is not gonna be easy and it’s gonna take a lot to accomplish the task at hand. But Mustang Nation including myself has confidence that we can finally break through and punch their ticket to the State Championship at University of Maryland College Park. In order for the Meade Mustangs to continue to sustain their success, they just gotta continue to do what they’ve been doing all season.

Meade has to keep relying and trusting each other, execute their style of play and more importantly play with Mustang Pride! So it all comes down to this. We do not know what’s gonna happen in tonight’s Final Four match up between Meade and Sherwood. But all about getting better and relying on each other to get the victory and advancing to the State Championship. Let’s go Mustangs!
